This is Jeremy riding his 2-wheeler with no training wheels. As he and I would ride along people would ask "How old is that little guy anyhow?" They were amazed to find that he is only 3.

This is a photo of LaDawn taken by Jeremy, age 3. He is an up and coming photographer.

Here is a photo of Bryce and President Wood on the night when Bryce was set apart as a missionary in preparation for his departure to the Missionary Training Center and then to the Florida Jacksonville Mission, where he is currently serving.

This photo is of Chris and me on our bike ride through the Lehigh River Valley in Pennsylvania along the old railroad bed, a very beautiful ride.

Finally the photos that I have been trying to post are showing. However, there are no captions, so I'll tell you about the photos here. I have a way to go in learning to post. The photos are not in chronological order. My numbering is left to right, top to bottom:

1. Along the Lehigh River in the Poconos of Pennsylvania.
2. Lake Harmony, where our Split Rock Resort was located.
3. Sadie playing mini-golf.
4. Trees in the Pocono Mountains.
5. Mason & Sadie on trolley car at Scranton, home of America's first electric trolley.
6. Skip & Chris at the Trolley Museum, Scranton.
7. Our group at Hershey, Pennsylvania.
8. Sadie at Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania in Lancaster County Amish country, riding in a carriage.
9. Jeremy with fireman Jamie at Moorpark, California.
10. Zach, LaDawn, Josh & Jeremy at cemetery in Camarilo at Phoebe's burial.
11. Skip & Sadie at the Crayola Factory in Easton, Pennsylvania.
12. Color along the highway en route to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
13. Mason playing mini-golf at Split Rock Resort, Pennsylvania.

As you can see, we shared a bittersweet time with Zach and family, then enjoyed the fall beauty of the Poconos, having timed the travel just right. We came home to snow in Fairbanks. I may try to post some more photos in a more orderly fashion following some more instruction by Katie.

The Cooks
Question:

Kaiah and Carinne are going to attend Ceres Center, a learning farm set up to Heifer International. Heifer is a non-profit that is known for trying to end hunger by providing livestock (hence the name). They train the recipients how to become self-sustaining using the livestock (milk, breeding, etc.).

Heifer's website is here. More info is here. Would anyone be interested in foregoing family gifts this year and giving instead to Heifer or some other worthy charity/project?
Our thought is that while individually our gifts may be small, together they could make a difference. A heifer, for example, is $500. Post our thoughts here? What does everyone think?

Carinne's Team

McKenna in goal

Jacob at the game on one of his many wanderings. Our time is taken up trying to keep him alive. He was recently caught on the counter with a piece of cheese on the end of a sharp knife sticking the cheese in his mouth. He can climb any household object. If the door to the outside opens, he sets land speed records trying to get out before it shuts, usually shouting GO! GO! GO!!!! He is living proof of guardian angels.

Julianne at her game

Chris, Walker and Will at the branding on their ranch

McKenna and Walker on Keeper and Elmer

Here is a photo of Kaiah riding Patches, our horse. She is filling out nicely (Patches, not Kaiah). Quite the skinny thing when we bought her.
