Yes, yes! Those photos, Bret, are cheesy but so adorable! I think the lure was a good one. Jacob is quite the smiler. The girls look great, too. I like that style of . . . sepia? Now I have to transfer them to Dad's camera. Hmmmm. . . maybe he should simply get on the blog! What am I thinking?

Sadie and Mason look like they are having a wonderful time with the Johns family. Sadie can now ride without training wheels? That's great! They both look enthusiastic for school.

We have been having the most wonderful Indian summer here. It is now cool and crisp during the early day but afternoons are gorgeous. Wish I could get more yard work done but am not making giant strides. Last night Dad and I went looking for cranberries but couldn't find them so went to see Whit. He was cleaning house and car before picking Erin up from a two week visit with grandmother and father. Then we went to see the Ghos new house, still in construction stage but quite an impressive structure. It sits on the side of a hillside and has a phenomenal view of the valley and Ester Dome. They have 21 foot ceilings in their living room, and 10 foot ceilings in their basement. Then their crawl space is 6 foot ceilings so they will put toys for grandkids down there. It's rather an imposing home. When we arrived they were just finishing lifting two pieces of spiral stiarcase into the upper floor. They will use them to get to the cuppola where they can see the aurora in a warm environment!

Nancy seems to have struggles with grabbing hold of life as she now knows it. Not fun. She is seeing a counselor once a week, a person Bob saw after Sandy died, so there is some help there. I'm sure she would welcome any check-ins you can make with her.

We took Grandma to the Salmonbake last night. She enjoyed that and also seeing a few Rotarians as one of the clubs meets there for the summer. Also Dad and she stopped to pick shaggy mane mushrooms near the Carlson Center, so she has a winter stash now.

How did you guys spend your anniversary, Zach and LaDawn? And Bret and Debbie, how was yours? One of the gals on my VT beat has a bouquet of roses for their anniversary as her husband left before their date to find a moose! Such are the perils of dates in September. Bryce and Tyler are out this week hunting, too.

Thanks for posting the photos, everyone. It's fun seeing them. Nick, you should get yours on the blog. I don't know how to do it!

Love, Mom

I love the pictures Bret and Debbie!!! They look so good! We have some from about 4 years ago of Sadie and Mason and just love them.
Here is Sadie learning how to ride without her training wheels! She learned really fast!
Chris spent a day at the farm with the kids. The National Plow Competition was practicing that day and they gave them a great wagon ride around the farm.

Mason on his first day of Pre-K. So far he is enjoying school although he tries to give Mom the excuse that he doesn't like school, like his big sister does. I know he really enjoys being there.

Mason, Ryan, Rachel and Sadie at Grandma and Grandpa Johns. It was such a fun weekend with the cousins.

Sadie on her first day of First Grade! Her teacher is Ms. Roark and Sadie likes her. She is still deciding if first grade is something she wants to attend everyday, but we are working on that.

So Debbie gets this invite to have the kids' pictures taken as part of a christian school fundraiser. The theme is old-fashioned. I'm thinking we're going to have to buy some token cheesey wallet-sized photos for friendship's sake.

Instead, the photographer was quite good and, while still cheesey, the pictures (I think) turned out great. See what you think:
